Horrid. I started my relationship with a salesperson, whose name is escaping me, and we decided on the basic 69.99 platform. This would allow me to get my feet wet with their company. He requested a Credit Card number to be kept on file. I directly posed the question "Will you be charging this card now?"... He respond with a confident "No, you will not be charged until you review the site and sign off on it."... This was a black and white dialogue, no room for a communication mishap. No more than 24 hrs later, a 99.99 charge is found on my credit card from their company. Wait a second; Didn't he assure me that I wouldn't be charged... Furthermore, 99.99??? What in the world is that figure? After a call to my salesperson, he explained that they mistakenly set me up for the 99$ platform... He requested a refund on the 99.99 charge, but first required me to contact my bank and get as much information regarding the charge... A Month or sotranspires, I sign off on the website, all should be well... Wrong. Another charge of 99 appears... They neglected to revert back to the original 69 dollar platform. A Snapfu on their end, again... Since then communication with my salesperson has been non existent. I have received 2 more 99 dollar charges... I've spent an accumulated 2 hours on hold with the company and I have been transferred to the wrong department numerous times. Sounds like a bunch of thugs are working for this company, with the occasional well spoken rep... Please do not waste your time.

1&1 is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. Their support is an absolute joke. To complete even simple tasks takes weeks or months of frustration, being ignored, and escalated to mysterious administrators - though we aren't ever allowed to speak with the escalation staff. They never respond, so we're not even sure whether or not they exist. Escalated urgent tickets frequently get ignored or are left unresolved and then happily closed without your consent. There simply isn't a single person in the company who gives a damn about the customers. Everybody defers to someone else until one of them finally has the guts to blow it off entirely.Even when we've expressed to them the extreme urgency of a situation, they continue to drag their feet. No work ever gets done. I've become convinced that the 1&1 owners and administrators don't actually exist - it's a shell company with a shoddy call center where nobody has authorization to do anything but put you on hold and then tell you that it will take exactly as many hours as they have left on their shift to resolve the problem. Then when that time lapses, if you call back you'll get someone entirely new who is just as happy as all hell to send you down the rabbit hole again, from the top. There is no continuancy between calls, even if you use the same ticket #. Every rep starts from the beginning and gets about 2 millimeters into the problem before giving up and trying every tactic they can to get you to simply hang up so they can get on to the next angry caller that they've pushed away probably more than a dozen times already.Since they are completely unable to resolve even the simplest of routine hosting issues, it's a wonder they haven't been sued out of existence... until you realize that their legal department is unresponsive as well - in fact there are absolutely zero paths to talk to anybody in the company with any authority. Even if you've delt with their criminal behavior for months or even years... you'll never talk to anybody in the company who can help - they don't exist.If you have any shred of sense, heed my advice and stay as far away from 1&1 as humanly possible. It is a giant scam full of criminals and untrained lazy shills. Nothing will ever get resolved and you'll likely end up paying for serves that go completely unrendered. They should be in jail.

I've been with 1&1 for MANY years and have had up to 15 different sites hosted including WordPress, Joomla, and straight HTML. You simply can't beat the price for what you get. There are lots of options and their home-grown control panel has improved over the years. For those that are used to a c-panel approach, this is different and will take getting used to. Over the years their technical support has also improved and you can now speak to someone 24/7 if needed. They can't always help, but they will talk to you and try to assist. 

So why am I know starting to migrate all of my sites away from 1&1? The majority of my sites are on Joomla-- and I simply need a host that understands Joomla. At 1&1 my sites have been hacked and rather than providing assistance or offering security features, they simply shut down the sites. Yes, they will go onto YOUR web site and change the security on your web pages so that they are no longer accessible. And it's up to you and the poor tech support person you call to figure it out. I've also discovered that that although the say they don't limit the space you have for files, they DO limit the NUMBER of files on your sites. With Joomla, if you use a commercial template like I do there are LOTS of files and they add up quickly.

In my opinion this website is an example of why so many people hate 1&1 Internet. it seem to me that 1&1 runs this site just to fool people into thinking it is a legitemate site. My question to you, can't you find a job with an honest company, don't you think God is goint to judge you?

In my opinion, of all the internet companies to get involved with, 1&1 would be the last. I curse the day I ever registered any domains with them. Check out ripoffreports for some customer comments.

It should be a warning that when their phone was answered by a recording that tells you if you have gotten a notice from NCO, a collection agency, to press a certain number. If they are a reputable business, why did they have to send so many accounts to a collection agency?

The Eastern Pennsylvania /Washington DC Better Business Bureau had given 1&1 an “F” rating. An investigative journalist, Kelli Jack has written a series of articles about them and had a pending lawsuit. She had said: “1&1 Should Be Shut Down.”
