1&1 Launches Value-Added Domain Offering

Company Solidifies its Position as Premier Domain Provider by Offering More Features without Increasing Prices

PHILADELPHIA, August 29, 2005 – In another bold move since entering into the U.S. market less than 18 months ago, 1&1 Internet, Inc., has announced that it will significantly increase the amount and variety of standard features available with its domain registration packages without raising prices.

Users can now register a domain with 1&1 for as low as $5.99 per year and receive for free a number of features that routinely cost extra, such as private domain registration, a 1GB email account and a free starter page, among others. The value-added domain packages will be 1&1’s standard offering—not a limited time promotion—as the company aims to expand upon the 5 million-plus domains it has already registered.

“We want to change the domain registration market the way we changed the Web hosting market--with competitive pricing and inclusive packages,” said 1&1 Chairman of the Board Andreas Gauger.  “We’re offering a lot of things that most other companies charge extra for, because we firmly believe in providing the most value for the money.”

To underscore this value, 1&1 will draw direct comparisons to its biggest competitors—Go Daddy and Yahoo!—in advertising and marketing campaigns supporting the new features and unchanged pricing. Print advertisements include a chart offering a side-by-side summary of the prices and features associated with three companies’ .com, .net. and .org domain packages clearly indicating that 1&1 offers the most features for the lowest price.

“You can’t make it any clearer than that,” Gauger said. “Our customers and potential customers will be able to see for themselves that 1&1 is the best choice.”
1&1 domain registrations include certain safety and technical services such as a waived ICANN fee, free DNS management, domain forwarding, domain locking and 200 email aliases -- along with 24/7 toll-free technical support. The packages also incorporate advanced marketing features like Hello Engines!, which enables a Web site to be listed with search engines such as Google, and Ranking Toolbox, to increase the rank of a Web page within search engines.

Gauger pointed out that customers can receive all of 1&1’s various domain features for free by signing up for the company’s shared hosting packages, all of which include up to five complimentary domain registrations.
