The Internet is ubiquitous in our lives today. The majority of people carry a smartphone, own a tablet or use a laptop. There have been developments in terms of our working environments with Bring-Your-Own-Devices (BYOD) and WIFI access, and we are hearing more and more about the Internet of Things (IoT).

With all these advancements in modern technology, it is easy to sometimes feel overwhelmed by the changes and even just by the language that goes with it. While at work, we likely rely on I.T. experts to worry about any connectivity issues but we usually don’t have that pleasure at home.

Coupled with the advances in technology have come advances in online scams or people trying to take advantage of the public’s lack of technical knowledge. The good news is that it is easy to protect yourself and your family from an I.T. attack like this and all it needs is some caution and a little education in what you need to know.
