CDNetworks Provides Mirror Sites for SourceForge, Apache, CentOS, and LINUX Kernel

San Jose, CA – January  2009 – CDNetworks (KOSDAQ: 073710), a  top-three global, full-service content delivery network (CDN), today announced that it is providing SourceForge.net, the world’s largest Open Source software development website, with state-of-the-art mirror sites in the US and Asia, to support its thousands of Open Source projects and millions of developers.  CDNetworks is providing these services at no charge to SourceForge.net as part of its effort to support the free development and exchange of software in the Open Source community. Previously, CDNetworks announced free mirror site services for the Asia-based websites of Apache, CentOS, and LINUX Kernel.

The Sourceforge.net software development website hosts more than 180,000 projects and more than 1.9 million registered users, providing a centralized resource for managing projects, issues, communications, and code. SourceForge.net has the largest repository of Open Source code and applications available on the Internet, and hosts more Open Source development products than any other site or network worldwide.

CDNetworks is providing free mirror sites to SorceForge.net and other Open Source sites to improve the speed and reliability of these sites.  Mirror sites are designed to store copies and source files identical to those on the original sites.  This helps prevent the original sites from crashing under the weight of too many concurrent users. Mirror sites require massive bandwidth and server administration technologies.  CDNetworks is donating its extensive global network infrastructure and professional server management technologies to provide these services in support of important Open Source initiatives.

“We are grateful to CDNetworks for their support of the SourceForge.net Open Source Community,” said Ross Turk, Director of Community, SourceForge.net.  “Their tremendous global resources and infrastructure will help enable Open Source projects for thousands of projects and millions of users around the world.”

“We are happy to add Sourceforge.net, the world’s largest Open Source community, to the group of Open Source programs we are supporting,” said SangWoo Park, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at CDNetworks. “Providing mirror sites for Sorceforge.net and other Open Source communities will help improve the productivity of developers and engineers around the world.   We are happy to provide our expertise and resources in support of these important technology projects.”
