IBM Leads in External Disk Storage

ARMONK, NY -- Sep 3, 2004 -- IBM continued its momentum in the external disk storage systems market by growing factory revenue by 4.7 percent year-over-year during the second quarter of 2004, as measured by IDC (1) in a report released today. The data also represents six consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue gain for IBM.

IBM also had a double digit revenue growth for Open SAN attached disk products, up 22 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2004.

The new IBM TotalStorage DS300 is designed to give mid-size clients a simple, reliable and affordable option to transport data through standard iSCSI protocols, and is priced starting at under $3,000. The IBM TotalStorage DS400 is a new Fibre Channel storage system designed for medium-sized businesses.
