Winners of 7th Annual Coveted Information Security Awards announced today during RSA Conference 2019

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McAfee, the device-to-cloud cybersecurity company, today announced that Rajiv Gupta, McAfee senior vice president and general manager of the cloud security business unit, was named Next Gen Security Expert of the Year at the InfoSec Awards 2019. The awards were announced by Cyber Defense Magazine (CDM) in conjunction with the RSA Conference 2019, which takes place this week in San Francisco. Attendees at the RSA Conference can visit McAfee at booth #N5745 in the North Hall of the convention center.

“CDM has spent the past six months scouring the globe and has evaluated nearly 3,000 companies and executives who create and offer the most respected information security products and services,” said Gary Miliefsky, a world-renowned cybersecurity expert and the Publisher of Cyber Defense Magazine. “We are excited to name Rajiv Gupta as an award-winning innovator due to his tireless dedication to protect companies from threats evolving from the device-to-cloud. He has continued to push boundaries to keep up with the relentless cyber threat landscape by creating new market categories, next gen protections, and putting his customers at the core of the decisions he makes.”

Gupta joined McAfee in January 2018 with the acquisition of Skyhigh Networks, the leading cloud access security broker (CASB) company, where he was the founder and chief executive officer. Skyhigh was fast-growing and a leader in the space, and with Gupta at the helm he co-pioneered an entirely new security market category known as CASB. Within McAfee Gupta went on to launch McAfee MVISION Cloud, the next evolution of the Skyhigh cloud security platform, expanding and redefining once again what a CASB platform can do. McAfee MVISION Cloud is now integrated with the larger McAfee security portfolio and further bolsters McAfee’s leadership in public cloud security to provide a cloud-native and frictionless way for organizations to consistently protect their data and defend against threats across the spectrum of Devices, Web, Software-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.

“I humbly accept this award on behalf of all the cybersecurity professionals working passionately to enable organizations of all sizes to securely adopt the cloud,” said Gupta. “Since the beginning of the Skyhigh journey, my goal has been to make cloud the most secure environment for business. Over the past year, I have had the pleasure to accelerate towards that goal not only through customer-focused innovations but also through customer-focused integrations with third-party providers and with McAfee products to deliver uncompromising end-to-end security from device to cloud.”

Gupta has more than 20 years of successful enterprise software and security experience and is recognized as a pioneer of web services. With more than 45 patents, Gupta is the inventor or co-inventor of some of the seminal concepts that underpin web services.
