Over 80 million email addresses and passwords were stored on the server, which is used to distribute malware spam, namely the Ursnif banking trojan. The records were culled from security breaches at major internet service providers, SaaS companies, and social networks.

As has been shown by British security researcher James Kettle, a substantial subset of the web is vulnerable because inexpert server administrators make easily avoidable errors when configuring servers and architecting networks.
