WiredTree Completes Strategic Network Infrastructure Upgrade, Adds Three New Backbone Providers

Housed in downtown Chicago's preeminent 427 LaSalle private data facility, WiredTrees network infrastructure now features gigabit ports on routers, switches, and dedicated servers.

CHICAGO (April 14, 2009) – WiredTree (http://www.wiredtree.com), a leading provider of Managed Dedicated, Managed Hybrid and Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting solutions, today completed several strategic upgrades to its network infrastructure, including the addition of three new IP transit providers and new network hardware.

Housed in downtown Chicago’s preeminent 427 LaSalle private data facility, WiredTree’s network infrastructure now features gigabit ports on routers, switches, and dedicated servers. Managed Dedicated Server customers also now benefit from 1000Mbps port upgrades to WiredTree’s public network.

WiredTree has also added connectivity to three new backbone providers for IP transit, including Sprint, NTT, and Level(3). Alongside existing providers Savvis and Cogent, the new connectivity will boost transit speeds and offer reduced latency to the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition, the three new providers increase domestic redundancy and boost overall network throughput.

With the upgrades, WiredTree now has five tier-1 network backbone providers.

The added network capacity has enabled WiredTree to reduce customer pricing to reflect its changed cost structure. Customers can now take advantage of less-expensive unmetered transit options and reduced data transfer overage costs. Specific pricing information can be obtained from WiredTree.

“Our engineers began the planning process for these infrastructure upgrades in June 2008, and we have spent the last six months testing and deploying the upgrades in our facility,” said Zac Cogswell, WiredTree president. “All WiredTree customers will benefit from improved performance, reduced pricing, and greater overall scalability in meeting their global data transit needs. This is an important milestone for our company.”
