Making your data goal green

06:23:28 - 13 November 2008

Can you make business sense from Green IT?

Following on from its hugely successful seminar at Wembley Stadium in June, the AIM-listed company is hosting another free event in the Highbury Suite at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday 9 December .

Speakers will include Cisco Systems, data analysts Broad Group, and UK law firm Dundas & Wilson.

Angus MacSween, CEO of iomart said: “How to run data centres whilst seeking to reduce their environmental impact is a huge issue right now. No-one would argue that data centres are going to be 100% eco-friendly, and we won’t try.”

“What is important is to recognise how we can reduce the data centre industry’s impact on the environment using existing technology such as virtualisation, and what can be done in the future. The requirement for data storage will only increase, so it’s vital we look at these issues now.”

Among the speakers at the Emirates event are:

Jim Dehaven of Cisco - ‘How Cisco is rising to the challenge’

Steve Wallage of Broad Group - ‘How the Data Centre IT market is reacting to the Crunch & Green issues’

Zahl Limbuwala of Romonet  - ‘The BCS Data Efficiency Programme’

Josh Boulton of Green IT Magazine – ‘Current UK Data Centre Trends’

Jim Hillan of Dundas & Wilson – ‘Environmental obligations affecting day-to-day business’

Stuart Paul of iomart – ‘Outsourcing v In House?’

The seminar starts at 9am with tea & coffee and concludes at 2pm. After that there will be a chance to take a 45 minute tour of the Emirates Stadium.

Tickets for this free event are limited but if you would like to attend, please register at http://www.iomart.com/events or call 0870 757 8550.
