Web hosting provider Globat.com Buys 131-Year-Old Housefly

14:25:35 - 27 February 2006

Los Angeles-based Globat.com(R), the world leader in Performance Web Hosting(TM), today announced it has purchased a 131-year-old house fly, caught ten years after the Civil War, and that is now winging its way to the company's Los Angeles headquarters.

The fly was caught in St. Joseph, Missouri, when it landed in a book that was slammed shut by a sleeping frontiersman. The fly remained trapped in the book, entitled "Scribner's Monthly Vol. IX" for over 131 years until a descendent of the frontiersman placed it up for auction on eBay in February 2006.

"Some people might wonder why anyone would want a 131-year-old fly," said Ben R. Neumann, President and CEO of Globat.com. "But how many people can claim to have a fly that's over 100 years old? We can, and, who knows, perhaps it will become an important part of natural science in years to come."

Globat.com is launching a wave of similarly unique sponsorships and events under the banner of "Defying Gravity." More information about this story and the campaign, including a picture of the fly, can be found at the Defying Gravity Web site (http://www.defyinggravity.com).

Information about Globat.com, the company's services, and their award-winning TeraByte Hosting(TM) packages, is available at their Web site (http://www.globat.com), or by calling 877-2-GLOBAT.
