The Best Companies to Work for in Texas were assessed based on an analysis of the company’s employee policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey.  The actual rankings will be published in a special section of the February 2006 issue of Texas Monthly magazine and the ranked companies will be recognized at a gala awards luncheon on February 8 at the Capitol Marriott in Austin. The survey and award program managed independently by the Pennsylvania-based Best Companies Group was charged with identifying the best employers in Texas, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses.

To be considered for participation, companies must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• For-profit or not-for-profit business
  
• Publicly or privately held business
  
• Company must have a facility in Texas
  
• Company must have at least 25 employees in Texas

The Best Companies to Work for in Texas program was managed by the Best Companies Group.  ModernThink, LLC, a partner of Best Companies Group, determined the rankings by evaluating the data collected from the participating companies.  The first part of the formula (75% of each company’s score) consisted of an anonymous employee survey used to evaluate the employees’ workplace experience.  The second part of the formula (25% of each company’s score) consisted of an employer survey where information was collected about each company’s benefits, policies, practices and general information.
