C I Host Tops 250,000 Customers And 330,000 Domains World-wide

08:45:02 - 30 December 2005

C I Host, a global leader in Web hosting and Internet solutions, has reached the quarter-million mark of customers, continuing a growth trajectory that it has ridden through good economic times and bad since it was founded in 1997.

As its core market of small and medium sized businesses has grown and begun to rely increasingly on eCommerce, C I Host has led the industry in finding products and services tailored for the entrepreneurs who need the latest technology, but don't have the time or resources to figure it out by
themselves.

At the same time, C I Host's ability to forego venture capital or any long-term debt has given it the solid financial foundation it needs to plough money back into the company early on, own its equipment and facilities, and ride out the dotcom crash to position itself to take full
advantage of the rebounding economy.

"We have been fortunate to be able to guide, participate in and benefit from one of the greatest evolutions in commerce the world has seen," said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "We have done this by putting our customers front and center, working for them, and making their success
paramount in our minds and actions."

In 2005, C I Host opened its fourth facility, a state-of-the-art data center in Newark, just 8 miles from the heart of downtown Manhattan, to bring quality, customer-centered Web hosting to the East Coast.

Also in 2005, C I Host expanded its Los Angeles data center for the third time in four years, adding 5,000 square feet, expanded its Dallas-Fort Worth center, and installed power upgrades and neural current eliminators in its Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth data centers.

Faulkner, 28, who founded C I Host in his college dorm room, has continued to be a hands-on CEO. He hosts a live chat room once a week for his customers, personally monitors quality control reports and sometimes mans a phone when call times for support exceed his demanding standards.

That attention to customer satisfaction extends to all areas of the company. As part of its 7th Anniversary celebration C I Host developed a "Customers Rule" program by examining every customer contact point and figuring out what customers would need at those crucial times.

Seven years of accumulated information gleaned from several methods of measuring customer expectations, feedback and satisfaction, was rolled into the new program.

"We want to understand our customers as much as possible so that every contact made throughout the entire lifecycle of their relationships with C I Host will be made with the utmost professionalism, accuracy and thoroughness," Faulkner said. "We also want to make eCommerce easy for our
customers. Our motto is, 'We hold your hand every step of the way.'"

C I Host has state of the art facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in the downtown areas of Los Angeles and Chicago and in Newark. A data center is planned for London.

Those strategically placed data centers, combined with a robust, redundant and reliable network that is now one of the largest privately owned fiber-optic cable networks in the world, enable C I Host customers to benefit from geographic load balancing, which means that data on a company's
Web site can be served from the C I Host servers that are closest to the customer accessing the company's information.

"The quicker download and response times you get from geographic load balancing mean that customers stay on a web site longer, have a more pleasant experience and buy more products," Faulkner said. "Web analytics have shown that millions of dollars can be lost if customers leave a web site frustrated by slowness. They go somewhere else. We protect our clients from that revenue loss."

C I Host also protects its clients from identity theft and other Internet scams.

As digital security concerns have become grown, Faulkner has become a much sought-after expert on both cyber and physical security, due to his knowledge and experience with protecting the security of his customers' data.

C I Host has a reputation of thwarting cyber-crime before it gets to its servers, and recently rolled out an anti-spam, anti-scam toolbar to help all computer users protect their data and their identities.

Faulkner was the featured speaker at the opening of the New York Museum of Modern Art's (MoMA) current exhibit, "SAFE: Design Takes On Risk," which presents more than 300 contemporary products and prototypes designed to protect body and mind from dangerous or stressful circumstances, respond to emergencies, ensure clarity of information, and provide a sense of comfort
and security.

Faulkner also discussed online security on Fox News, was interviewed by ABC's network news program, World News Now, and gave presentations on cyber-security at ITEC (Information Technology Exposition and Conference) conferences across the country.

While the small and medium-sized businesses remain C I Host's core market, it also expanded into the enterprise level market and offers a full range of hosting, from shared to dedicated.

C I Host has also been active in the family market, with such products as iMonitor, which helps parents protect their children from online predators, pornography or other inappropriate material, and e-Memories on the Web, a comprehensive image and video online album program.

"Our goal is to make the Internet robust, accessible and safe for all for everyone, from grade school children to large corporations," Faulkner said. "We are still at the dawn of this new resource, and what we do or don't do now, will set the path for generations to come."
