Vernier Networks Strengthens Presence in Japan

03:38:33 - 10 October 2005

Vernier Networks (www.verniernetworks.com) announced that Takachicho Koheki (TK) has signed an agreement to distribute Vernier’s EdgeWall product line. The partnership will provide network access management solutions to the Japanese marketplace and increase Vernier’s presence in Japan.

Since Vernier‘s initial foray into Japan in late 2002, the company’s solutions have been widely accepted in the Japanese market. With the new release of EdgeWall, Vernier recognized the need to deliver network access management solutions through a partner with proven network security expertise, enhanced customer services and support.

“Network access management is becoming a big concern for enterprises who have managed and unmanaged devices and who must support wired, wireless and remote users connecting through VPNs,” said Katsuo Hori, research director at Gartner Research, Inc.

Founded in 1952, TK is one of Japan’s leading distributors of cutting-edge emerging technologies with more than 4,000 customers. TK’s Network Solution Division, specializing in the distribution of network and security solutions, will market and distribute Vernier’s EdgeWall and will also provide maintenance support to customers.

“After evaluating Vernier’s EdgeWall, we were compelled to bring this solution to the Japanese market. Policy compliance scanning, the ability to control access and quarantine users independent of the way they connect, as well as the various deployment options, were all crucial elements that convinced us that Vernier has a winning approach,” said Keiichi Obara, general manager of the network division at TK.

Vernier’s EdgeWall security appliance is the industry’s only clientless network access management product that defends against intrusions and attacks on the network by screening users and devices, restricting access and enforcing access policy.

Unlike desktop-based endpoint solutions that rely on end-user integrity, EdgeWall is entirely network-based with no desktop footprint, keeping security and access control in the hands of the IT department, and is ideal for both managed and unmanaged devices. The result is easier deployment across the enterprise, simplified management and a lower total cost of ownership.

“As the need for secure network access and identity-based quarantine systems continues to grow, our partnership with TK will help accelerate the distribution of our EdgeWall line in Japan,” said Eric Colard, vice president of business development at Vernier Networks.
