HP Ranked No. 1 in Worldwide Market Share for Distributed System Management Software

HP today announced that it is the worldwide market share leader in distributed system management software for 2004, according to a recent IDC market report.

According to the IDC study, HP (www.hp.com) led the worldwide distributed system management software market category in 2004 with 13.3 percent revenue share. HP's revenue grew 14.9 percent in this market for 2004, outpacing the overall one-year growth of 8 percent for the category and nearly doubling the revenue growth of each of the next three closest competitors.

"HP's market-leading position in this major software industry segment is evidence that our HP OpenView system management solutions are driving increased customer adoption and strong revenue growth," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, Management Software Business, HP.

According to the IDC study, the worldwide distributed system management software market achieved revenue of $5.54 billion in 2004 and is forecast to grow to $8.99 billion in 2009, an increase of 62.3 percent for the period.

IDC defines the worldwide system management software market as "including those software tools that are routinely used in IT operations or by end users to manage system and application resources."
