Sprint Doubles Network Capacity in Europe

Increased demand for global IP solutions among enterprise customers is prompting Sprint (www.sprint.com) to double network capacity to and throughout Europe to address global access, performance and security requirements.

Sprint is expanding trans-Atlantic capacity by 50 percent to augment growth and increasing its intra-European core capacity by 100 percent to supplement existing points of presence. This expansion is scheduled to be completed during August and helps Sprint address the global communication requirements of corporations that need to connect employees, customers and business partners.

Last fall, Sprint extended its standard Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) virtual private network (VPN) offering to over 100 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America, providing a secure and highly scalable solution to support the convergence of voice, video and data onto one network-based IP VPN platform.

Sprint was the first global provider to deploy an IP Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) built end-to-end with Cisco equipment. Sprint also was the first global service provider to achieve the Cisco IP VPN Multiservice QoS Certified status, a certification that demonstrates that its MPLS VPN service meets Cisco standards for delivering quality of service (QoS).
