Qwest to Provide Web Hosting to Department of Defense Agency

Qwest Communications International Inc. (www.quest.com) today announced a new contract to provide hosting services for the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) Enterprise Data Center program, which will give the agency the redundancy and security it requires for its sensitive data storage needs.

Under the 10-year contract, Qwest will provide infrastructure support services and connectivity at three of its state-of-the-art CyberCenters(sm). Hewlett Packard, the prime contractor, will provide remote management and monitoring.

The DLA is part of the Department of Defense (DoD) and provides worldwide logistics support for the missions of the U.S. military during peace and war times. It also provides logistics support to other DoD components and certain federal agencies, foreign governments and international organizations.

DLA is consolidating and migrating its infrastructure, such as servers and computing capabilities, from in-house to the Qwest CyberCenters. The contract required that Qwest pass a detailed and stringent security certification process at its CyberCenter locations. The level of certification and security provided in Qwest facilities is one of the highest awarded.
