Rackspace Signed Redbus 1000th Customer Contract

18:14:57 - 06 May 2005

Redbus Interhouse plc (www.redbus.com), Europe's most advanced, independent colocation and managed services provider, announced that managed hosting specialist, Rackspace, has signed the company's 1000th customer contract.

Under the agreement, Redbus Interhouse will house failover servers and networking equipment belonging to Rackspace in a suite in one of Redbus Interhouse's high security data centres in London.

This news follows the excellent financial results recently announced by Redbus Interhouse plc for 2004, during which the company increased its turnover by 17% to £16.0m and demonstrated considerable success in winning new orders, resulting in a 29% increase in the recurring income order book.

Having a 2.5Gbps network in the UK already, Rackspace currently has significant excess capacity to satisfy the requirements of its customers, but with the company experiencing 5% growth month on month, it is looking to increase the resilience and overall capacity of its network to 7.0Gbps to ensure it remains future-proof.

Rackspace decided that it would replicate its core network at Redbus Interhouse because of the quality and location of its colocation facilities in London, combined with the breadth of choice of its connectivity providers, and Redbus Interhouse's experience and expertise in the colocation market.

Dominic Monkhouse, managing director, Rackspace commented, "We live by our tagline of providing ‘fanatical support™' to our customers and will always go the extra mile to make sure their expectations are exceeded.

We therefore also need to make sure that our service providers inspire a similar level of reassurance in us - and Redbus Interhouse does that. The quality of Redbus Interhouse's data centre is second to none and, as far as network capacity is concerned, we couldn't ask for a better location as it gives us a fantastic choice of connectivity."

Mike Tobin, CEO of Redbus Interhouse, said, "As a managed hosting specialist, Rackspace is renowned throughout the industry for the outstanding level of support it provides its customers. We're therefore delighted that the company has chosen to expand its network capacity and resilience at Redbus Interhouse and we look forward to playing our role in underpinning the network that has already delivered four years of continuous network uptime."
