DaniWeb Community Sports New Design

19:32:36 - 03 May 2005

The new look allows for easier navigation and efficient browsing

DaniWeb.com, an I.T. Community with nearly 35,000 registered members, announced this week that it has successfully implemented a complete renovation of the site’s look and structure.

The site (http://www.daniweb.com) released the new look in an effort to improve the ease of navigation, and to give the site a more corporate feel.

“DaniWeb has been attracting some really big advertising clients lately, so I saw a need raise the bar a little bit,” said Dani Horowitz, founder of DaniWeb.

Community enthusiasts gave advice to Horowitz, who completely coded the new design, and helped refine the aesthetics of the new look.

“When the new design first went live, I was getting a lot of mixed opinions, but I have been able to tweak it enough to make everybody happy,” said Horowitz.

The new design includes features to make the site run more efficiently, and compete with larger communities.

“I completely recoded the backend of the site be much more robust,” said Horowitz. “Our tech blogs are also very prominent in the new design.”

Horowitz also says the site is giving away thousands of static back-links to other websites, by allowing members and guests to submit their URL in a link directory. Links are also fed to all thread pages.

“The links are actually helpful to everyone; they're on hundreds of thousands of high ranking targeted pages, and they are relevant to what’s being discussed,” said Horowitz.

Members of the site still enjoy the small-town feel of the community, and the free technical support and coding help.

“We are one of the only communities that has been able to obtain large growth without losing the down to earth environment,” said Horowitz. “I’m really proud of that.”
