Netopia Releases New Timbuktu® Pro

Netopia, Inc. (www.netopia.com), provider in broadband gateways and service delivery software, today announced several new features to Timbuktu® Pro 8.1, including compatibility with Apple's Mac OS X Version 10.4, also known as "Tiger". The new Macintosh operating system will be available to users tomorrow.

Timbuktu Pro 8.1 will provide an enriched experience for Timbuktu Pro customers and supports Tiger's significant new features such as desktop search and high-definition video technology.

New Timbuktu Pro 8.1 features include upgraded keyboard fidelity and key mapping, improved cross platform keyboard mapping when controlling a Windows host, quicker and more efficient screen data, and faster screen sharing and file exchange over secure connections.

Timbuktu Pro 8.1 offers security and ease-of-use enhancements which provide more value and functionality for network administrators and IT managers -- enabling remote control and support over any LAN, WAN, Internet or direct-dial connection. Now, Netopia's remote control software supports the latest version of Mac OS X, which is expected to offer more than 200 new features.

"The Tiger operating system offers a range of exciting new features that make it much easier for Macintosh users to search their computers and communicate with each other," said Jeff Porter, vice president of product marketing at Netopia.

Timbuktu Pro 8.1 boosts security by including data stream encryption and compression through a standards-based, integrated Secure Shell (SSH) client in addition to Timbuktu's own proprietary protocols.
