NTT Taps Raritan Computer's Solutions for NOC Management

14:57:39 - 23 March 2005

Raritan Computer, Inc. (www.raritan.com), a provider of solutions for managing IT infrastructure equipment and the mission-critical applications and services that run on it - today announced that its Paragon® II KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch has been selected by NTT Neomeit Chugoku, a business unit of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation that builds telecommunications systems and provides IT operations and maintenance services.

NTT Neomeit Chugoku procured Raritan's Paragon 1664 KVM switches and IP-Reach® KVM-over-IP units to manage servers and other IT equipment that support NTT's new network management service centers.

The centers monitor and maintain networks around the clock for NTT customers and NTT group facilities, such as NTT-ME Tohoku.

With Paragon's Web-based management features, NTT personnel are able to access and troubleshoot servers from anywhere.

To further accelerate incident response, NTT Neomeit Chugoku has tied its systems management software to Paragon so when there is an incident alarm, the faulty servers screen pops up instantly on the screens of IT specialists' Paragon User Stations.

"Having remote access to equipment is critical for delivering high-availability services," said Katsuhiko Honda of NTT-ME. "Prior to adding Paragon switches, our IT staff had to leave the control room and walk to terminals inside the server room each time trouble was detected - taking up valuable time."

According to Honda, another important benefit is that the hardware-based Paragon solution is easy to set up, requiring no software to be installed in either the equipment in the network management center or the remote servers.

"We are delighted that NTT Neomeit Chugoku, with its leading-edge technologies and world-class networks, has selected Raritan's solutions to support its network management center," said Sev Onyshkevych, Raritan's Marketing Vice President. "

Paragon is a modular KVM system that provides multiple simultaneous users secure, out-of-band access and control of data center servers and devices.
