Opsware Inc. (www.opsware.com), a provider of IT automation and utility computing software, today announced a solution to deliver Opsware automation capabilities designed to reduce the cost of managing servers which run on Novell's SUSE® LINUX Enterprise Server 9.

As SUSE LINUX rapidly gains adoption across large IT organizations, automated management becomes more critical to reduce the cost of ownership.

The cooperative efforts between Opsware and Novell to port the Opsware solution to Novell's Linux platform have helped optimize the effectiveness of the solution for enterprise customers.

"With growing demand for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server, customers are asking us for cost effective ways to manage their installations," said David Patrick, vice president and general manager of Linux and Open Source for Novell.

Opsware has deeply integrated automation capabilities for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9, providing customers with lower total cost of ownership by automating the complete IT operations lifecycle of servers, including provisioning, ongoing OS management, and security.

"As part of their efforts to improve efficiency and lower costs in their data centers, customers are migrating from proprietary UNIX to Linux, and in particular to SUSE LINUX platforms," said Ben Horowitz, president and CEO of Opsware Inc.
