17:25:11 - 07 February 2005

BladeLogic, Inc. (www.bladelogic.com), a provider of data center automation software, today announced that Virgin Mobile, the UK's largest mobile virtual network operator, has selected BladeLogic Operations Manager™ as its server management automation platform.

BladeLogic Operations Manager, a suite of enterprise-class data center automation solutions, enables organizations of any size to provision, configure and manage large-scale, distributed server environments more efficiently, resulting in dramatically reduced data center operating costs, improved responsiveness and enhanced server security.

Initially, Virgin Mobile will use BladeLogic Operations Manager to deploy software to its pre-production and production server environments and to replace a manual process that was time-consuming and prone to error.

BladeLogic Operations Manager will enable Virgin Mobile to dramatically improve the time it takes to package, distribute and deploy software updates.

"We selected BladeLogic because it was the only solution we evaluated that could significantly increase efficiencies across a wide range of data center processes," said, Gerry McQuade, Operations Director, Virgin Mobile. "For instance, BladeLogic will enable us to capture and compare pre-production server configurations with production server configurations.

"In order to gain a competitive advantage, leading companies today are looking to optimize efficiency in every part of their IT operations," said Dev Ittycheria, President and CEO, BladeLogic.

Virgin Mobile Holdings (UK) plc, the UK's largest mobile virtual network operator, is majority owned by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group and uses T-Mobile's network. Since its launch in November 1999, Virgin Mobile has attracted more than 5 million customers.

BladeLogic is the leading provider of data center automation software with the largest installed base of Global 2000 and other leading customers, including such organizations as AT&T, Capgemini, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, General Electric, HSBC, priceline.com, Putnam Investments, Time Warner, VeriSign and Walmart.com.
