Daymon Worldwide Launches Data Protection with VERITAS Backup

15:55:32 - 01 February 2005

VERITAS Software Corporation (www. veritas.com) announced today that Daymon Worldwide has already achieved faster backup times and substantial improvements in IT productivity using VERITAS Backup Exec™ 10.0 software, the Gold Standard in Windows Data Protection.

Daymon Worldwide is using Backup Exec 10.0 with the Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option to protect critical data that resides on employees' desktop and laptop computers, accelerate data recovery and lower overall IT costs.

Daymon Worldwide has relied on Backup Exec software to protect its data center for three years and is now using Backup Exec 10.0 to protect the two-and-a-half terabytes of company data stored on individual employees' Dell desktop and laptop computers.  That data is growing at a rate of 20 percent a year.

"We want our employees focused on helping our customers better market their products—not worrying about backing up their desktop and laptop data," said Josh Bauer, network administrator, Daymon Worldwide.

"People still have a tendency to keep important things on their desktops.  With Backup Exec 10.0, it's no longer a problem. The software completely automates the backup process, so important company data is protected and our employees are able to focus on serving customers."

Founded in 1970, Daymon is the leading provider of marketing and merchandising services for private-label consumer products, helping retailers, wholesalers & their manufacturing partners market economical, store-brand versions of everything from face cream to canned soups.

The company has more than 9,000 employees in the U.S., Europe and Japan, including several hundred mobile users who spend most of their time at customer sites working from their laptop computers.

The VERITAS Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option provides Daymon Worldwide continuous disk-based protection for its mobile workers by automatically copying files as they are saved to the network, helping to ensure that the most up-to-date versions of documents and other critical files are available on all of an individual user's computers.

The Desktop and Laptop Option has already begun to demonstrate tangible returns for Daymon Worldwide. "When one of our executives accidentally deleted something important from his laptop a few weeks ago, we performed a restore with Backup Exec software," said Bauer.

VERITAS Software, one of the 10 largest software companies in the world, is a leading provider of software and services to enable utility computing. In a utility computing model, IT resources are aligned with business needs and business applications are delivered with optimal performance and availability on top of shared computing infrastructure, minimizing hardware and labor costs.
