ReelTime to Deliver Digital Media to Schools in Washington State

15:26:08 - 19 January 2005

ReelTime Rentals, Inc., (www.reeltimetv.net) has received a signed Letter of Intent from the Educational Service District 113 (ESD 113) to deliver media content to approximately 66,000 students across schools throughout Washington State.

"We have struggled to shift our model for delivering video for two years, but have found the technology has not been ready or was cumbersome for the end user.

Every model for content delivery we have explored required cost prohibitive initial and ongoing investment in infrastructure/hardware," said Dana Anderson, Assistant Superintendent, ESD 113 Data, Technology and Communications.

The agreement outlines an initial implementation to deliver media from the ESD 113 Media Center to classrooms within ESD 113 jurisdiction by utilizing its Intelligent Rapid Delivery System (IRDS).

Currently, school staff can "check out" the videos for a two-week period to use with their students. The Media Center then distributes the media by delivery van or, in some instances, sends it by mail.

"While delivery of DVD quality media to the home for entertainment purposes remains our primary revenue model, this agreement demonstrates our ability to leverage our existing technology to penetrate additional vertical markets such as education, military, government and private corporate use," said Alex Stanczyk, CEO ReelTime Rentals.

One of ESD 113's primary purposes is to provide for equitable opportunities for students and staff regardless of where they reside or the resources available within their communities.
