Web Hosting Provider Peak 10 and TelCove Team Up for Data Center

14:08:55 - 18 January 2005

Peak 10 (www.Peak10.com), a data center and managed services provider, today announced it will be pooling resources with TelCove to provide connectivity, bandwidth and data center services to the American Tobacco Historic District's growing tenant population. TelCove, a leading provider of business critical telecommunications services to enterprise customers and carriers, has made a diverse fiber ring connection between its Durham hub at American Tobacco to TelCove's newest network location at Peak 10's state-of-the-art data center located in the heart of the Research Triangle region.  As a part of the expansion, Peak 10 becomes a fiber hub for TelCove.

The American Tobacco Historic District, located in Durham, N.C., is the revitalization of Durham's most prominent downtown industrial complex.  Over a million square feet of mixed-use space incorporates restaurants, residences and class A offices all situated beside the Durham Bulls Triple A baseball park.  The complex combines with public green space to create a unique, high-density development unlike any other in North Carolina.

The technology that TelCove and Peak 10 offer will attract more businesses to an all-star list of corporations at American Tobacco.  The list of current tenants includes Compuware Corporation, Duke University, GlaxoSmithKline, McKinney and Intersouth Partners among others.  With several restaurants, a fitness center and an amphitheatre on site, American Tobacco is a must-see for companies looking to move or grow in North Carolina's Research Triangle region.

Peak 10 is the Southeast's leading data center and managed services provider committed to providing a high level of value and service executed locally from its five key market locations in Louisville, Ky., Jacksonville and Tampa, Fla., and Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.  The company enjoys unmatched geographic diversity, vast technical and engineering expertise, and one of the industry's strongest financial positions.  The direct link with TelCove provides Peak 10's Raleigh data center with its third Internet access point.

"The American Tobacco District has become the preeminent space in the commercial real estate market," said Greg Rollet, vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Raleigh.  "Our collaboration with TelCove not only improves the value proposition the District can offer potential tenants but also strengthens our data center's infrastructure by adding another first class carrier and access point to the Internet.  Locating the fiber hub in our facility not only enhances our relationship, but also offers new service options previously unavailable to our customers."

"Just as we have found in many of our other markets, large-scale mixed-use development projects are a natural fit for TelCove's suite of fault tolerant Internet, Data, and Voice services," said Laura Philipp, general manager with TelCove.

TelCove was founded in 1991 and is a leading provider of business critical telecommunications services.  The company offers enterprise companies and carriers superior Internet, data, and voice solutions via its reliable, secure and independently-owned metropolitan and intercity fiber-optic network. TelCove operates in 50 markets throughout the eastern half of the United States.
