Avaya Donates US$ 1 Million to Assist Victims Affected by the Tsunami in Asia

Miami, FL. January 19, 2005 - (HostReview) - Avaya Inc., (NYSE:AV) announced that it will donate one million dollars to international non-governmental organizations whose efforts are to collect funds and contribute to the welfare of the tsunami victims which affected several countries in the Asian and African regions.

Avaya donated $75,000 dollars to the American Red Cross and created a special fund of $250,000 in order to match personal contributions made by Avaya employees to the victims.  For every dollar donated, Avaya will match that amount to the employees' organization of choice.

Avaya employees are supporting this initiative by making contributions between $25 and $5,000 dollars to organizations such as the American Red Cross, UNICEF, OXFAM and AmeriCares. 

"We have truly been impacted by this devastating quake and the tsunami has affected so many thousands of people in so many countries," said Elizabeth Garcia, President, Avaya, Latin America and Caribbean.  "The reach of suffering of this catastrophe is without precedence and has brought enormous support in the global community. We hope that the contribution from Avaya in conjunction with the donations of individuals and other organizations will help reconstruct the lives and homes of the victims of this disaster."
