Switch and Data Acquires LayerOne

Switch and Data (www.switchanddata.com) today announced it has completed the acquisition of Dallas-based LayerOne, a privately-held company that operates three data centers in Dallas, Miami and Chicago with network interconnection hubs in Los Angeles and New York.

The acquisition of LayerOne expands and strengthens Switch and Data's presence with 35 sites in 23 North American markets - the industry's largest footprint -- and extends the company's customer base to more than 800 customers.

It also enhances the company's abilities to extend its VoIP solutions, peering fabric and managed infrastructure to customers in key markets.

Switch and Data and LayerOne provide established and emerging communications service providers and network-intensive enterprises with a fast, cost-effective way to interconnect and exchange with vendors, customers and other service providers in a neutral marketplace.
