Neon and BEA Teams Up for Application Servers Supply

16:11:26 - 21 December 2004

NEON® Systems, Inc. (www.neonsys.com) and BEA Systems, Inc. (www.bea.com) announced that the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has selected the combination of BEA WebLogic ServerTM and NEON's Shadow® mainframe integration solution to support its forthcoming eBusiness Computing Infrastructure (eBCI) project.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most of the provinces and territories, as well as various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system. The eBCI project is designed to make extensive use of applications and data residing on large IBM mainframe environments and to rely on the combination of NEON's Shadow mainframe integration technology and BEA WebLogic Server to help ensure that updates to the mainframe systems are transactionally synchronized with other distributed resource managers.

"The Canada Revenue Agency ran one of the most thorough software evaluations we have ever encountered," said Mark Cresswell, president and CEO, NEON Systems.

"Given CRA's specific, mission-critical operational requirements, when the need to transactionally connect BEA WebLogic to the mainframe emerged, we felt that NEON represented a wise choice to help ensure the success of the solution. NEON met our expectations in this respect," said Bobby Napiltonia, vice president and general manager, Global Alliances, BEA Systems.

BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS) is a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, helping enable companies to improve business responsiveness through service-oriented architecture (SOA), a software design approach that more closely aligns IT with business objectives.
