Alameda County Social Services Renews Globix Contract for Web Services Delivering

Globix Corporation (www.globix.com) announced that Alameda County Social Services (www.AlamedaSocialServices.org) has renewed its Web services agreement with Globix. Under the renewed contract, Globix will continue to provide application management, monitoring, database administration (DBA) support, and operating systems (OS) administration services for both the county's public citizen portal as well as its secure employee intranet.

Globix deployed the tailored Web solution for ACSS in January 2004. The Globix system has allowed county employees to better function at their jobs by making requisite information easily available and updateable.

"In less than a year we've already witnessed outstanding results from the Globix system," said Jim Damian, Web Services Manager of Alameda County.

The ACSS content management system operates both the secure employee intranet, which consists of nearly 20,000 pages of policies, procedures, and forms, as well as its resident-facing Web content, including county services information and contacts.

"We saw the opportunity to create a partner relationship with Alameda County, not simply sell them the parts to a solution," said John D. McCarthy, Senior Vice President, Sales and Corporate Development. "So whereas others came in with products that had bells and whistles not necessarily applicable to their specific needs, we recommended a solution tailored to their requirements and technology level — something that absolutely fit."

The Alameda County Social Services Agency of California is comprised of 2,400 men and women working collectively and in partnership with community-based organizations to serve the needs of the community. Services are provided through five departments: Agency Administration and Finance, Adult and Aging Services, Children and Family Services, Workforce and Benefit Administration and Policy and Special Projects.
