Global Crossing Teams with India's Sify Partner for IP Services

15:21:24 - 23 November 2004

Global Crossing (www.globalcrossing.com) and Sify (www.sifycorp.com) India's premier Internet, networks and eCommerce services, company, have agreed to interconnect their MPLS-based IP networks using Global Crossing's iMPLS™ interprovider connection service, extending service reach across each other's networks.

Customers of either provider will be able to seamlessly scale and provision converged IP and data services including VoIP, IP Video, and Internet access across IP VPN connections to any endpoint in the networks' combined footprint.

"India is a key contributor to global commerce and high technology, and a vital communications landing-point in Asia," said John Legere, Global Crossing's CEO.

Mr. R. Ramaraj, CEO of Sify Limited said, "With growth in the scale and scope of Indian business, many of our customers require global connectivity today, or will do so in the near future.

"Sify is a major force in India," adds Anthony Christie, Global Crossing's CMO. "Within their region, their all-optical MPLS network is technically comparable to our own, enabling high-level iMPLS interconnection with end-to-end class of service and QoS mapping."

Founded six years ago, Sify has surged to prominence in India as a provider of diverse advanced network, hosting and managed services, delivered from a common, IP/MPLS-based converged network platform.

"This partnership between Global Crossing and Sify exemplifies how Global Crossing's iMPLS service can enable third-party service providers to augment their own local or regional MPLS-based IP reach.

Global Crossing's iMPLS service enables seamless, reliable, scalable MPLS-based IP VPN service expansion by carriers and service providers, across Global Crossing's worldwide network, speeding time-to-market and minimizing capital investment.

Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC) provides telecommunications solutions over the world's first integrated global IP-based network. Its core network connects more than 300 cities and 30 countries worldwide, and delivers services to more than 500 major cities, 50 countries and 6 continents around the globe.

Global Crossing IP services are global in scale, linking the world's enterprises, governments and carriers with customers, employees and partners worldwide in a secure environment that is ideally suited for IP-based business applications, allowing e-commerce to thrive.
