Dell Picks Oklahoma City Site for Customer Contact Center

18:48:29 - 29 October 2004

Dell announced plans to build a customer contact center on an approximately 60-acre site in Oklahoma City. Dell will begin construction of a 120,000 square-foot facility next month, with completion expected in summer 2005.

Dell announced the selection of Oklahoma for a customer contact center in July, with the intention of employing 250 people. The company currently operates at a temporary location in Oklahoma City's Hertz Financial Center. At ceremonies today marking the opening of this temporary facility, Dell officials said the company's continuous growth, coupled with the high caliber of the area workforce, has prompted the expansion of its local employment base to 500.

"The quality of the local workforce has enabled us to expand our business plan and increase the number of Oklahoma City employees we need to serve our customers," said Ro Parra, senior vice president and general manager of Dell Americas.

"Today we celebrate that Dell, a well respected, global company, has chosen Oklahoma for a significant facility and that they have also chosen to almost triple their initial headcount goal," said Gov. Brad Henry. "Dell has found what we already know - that our incredible workforce is a tremendous asset to business. Dell is a great addition to our state's business community."
