Sun Microsystems, Inc. (www.sun.com) announced it has teamed with leading software, service and solution providers to open a new iForce Solutions Center for Government (www.sun.com/iforce) in the Washington, D.C.

"We are pleased that Sun has created an iForce Solutions Center to serve federal and state and local government agencies in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Now customers can see the new and exciting enterprise products, services, and solutions Sun and its partners offer," said Scott Friedlander, GTSI Group Vice President Sales, Enterprise Technology Practices.

The new testing center is designed to mitigate risk, reduce cost and help in the development of solutions that address specific business processes.

"This is another example of Sun's strong commitment to focus on the specific requirements of vertical industries like government. Across the board, government organizations demand the most cost effective, least complex and most manageable systems," said Clark Masters, executive vice president of Industry Sales and president of Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc.

"We've invested in government solutions - whether they are national or local, US or foreign - and have chosen partners that share our commitment to provide the best, most secure systems to governments worldwide."

"As Sun's largest Federal partner, we look forward to continuing to bring the government essential solutions for today's environment and to supporting the iForce Solutions Center for Government."

The iForce Solutions Center for Government was designed to enable government as well as commercial customers to pre-test and integrate business processes, applications and information affecting virtually every aspect of their business in a live environment.

In addition to the technical benefits the center can provide, customers using the facility can create proofs-of-concept and end-to-end prototypes.
