Web Host Rackspace Doubles its Data Center Space

00:00:00 - 25 October 2004

Rackspace Managed Hosting (www.rackspace.com), the fastest-growing managed hosting company, today announced that it has acquired a 55,000 square foot, state-of-the-art data center in Grapevine, Texas.

"Our rapid company growth and customer acquisition rate created a need for additional space less than two years after the deployment of our last facility," said Paul Froutan, vice president of engineering, Rackspace Managed Hosting.

The new space doubles Rackspace's data center capacity with the ability to add more than 20,000 new servers for the company's growing customer base.

Rackspace continues to benefit from the growing trend of companies depending on outsourced providers to manage critical business applications from customer relationship management and financial reporting compliance to disaster recovery and security.

The facility also has a UPS backup power system in case of an emergency and, in the event of an extended power failure, diesel generators allow for a combined capacity of 12 megawatts.

Through this new facility, Rackspace can service its expansion, while providing additional geographic redundancy to new and existing customers.
