Bladelogic Launches Data Center Automation Solution

00:00:00 - 18 October 2004

BladeLogic, Inc. (www.bladelogic.com), announced the availability of BladeLogic Operations Manager 6, the latest version of the company's industry-leading suite of data center automation software solutions.

Unlike all other automation solutions, which are oriented towards the management of physical devices, BladeLogic Operations Manager 6 allows IT organizations to simplify the complexity of managing large data center environments by modeling and managing services.

"Moving to a real-time infrastructure requires the IT organization to behave like a profit center, providing value-based IT services that drive the business," said Donna Scott, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner Research.

This service-oriented approach enables IT staff to easily translate business requests into operational tasks, resulting in an IT organization that is more aligned and responsive to the requirements of the business.

Additional features in this release include advanced support for VMWare ESX for integrated physical and virtual infrastructure management; support for SUSE Linux, which extends BladeLogic's leadership position in support of all major OS platforms; architectural enhancements that allow Operations Manager 6 to manage tens of thousands of servers across multiple data centers.

"To support our ambitious growth plans we needed a flexible data center automation platform to easily manage a dynamic and rapidly expanding application infrastructure," said Myles Trachtenberg, Chief Technology Officer, FreshDirect, an online fresh-food manufacturing and delivery service.

With more customers than any other automation provider, BladeLogic has built a compelling track record as the industry's most sophisticated data center automation solution that enables companies to significantly reduce data center operating costs, improve IT responsiveness and increase security.

"Organizations today need to evolve their IT environment to a state where resources can be easily and quickly re-purposed to meet changing business requirements," said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO of BladeLogic. "With the availability of Operations Manager 6, BladeLogic dramatically extends its leadership position by delivering the most complete solution in the marketplace today.

BladeLogic is the leading provider of data center automation software with a large installed base of Global 2000 and other leading customers, including Chicago Mercantile Exchange, General Electric, HSBC, IBM, priceline.com, Sprint, Time Warner, VeriSign, and Walmart.com.
