Opsware Launches Asset Tracking Edition

14:06:51 - 15 December 2004

Opsware Inc. (www.opsware.com), a provider of IT automation and utility computing software, today announced a new release of Opsware Asset Tracking Edition (ATE) Version 5.5.

The new release extends automated discovery capabilities to additional server and desktop platforms, adds new reporting capabilities and provides more stringent access controls for improved, centralized security. Asset Tracking Edition Version 5.5 will be generally available in January 2005.

The growth of the Internet is driving a shift from client/server computing to Web architectures.

"Customers need to discover and track all their IT assets to rationalize purchases and understand how they are being used, so they can find opportunities to control costs and optimize vendor licensing agreements," said Tim Howes, chief technology officer for Opsware

With this shift comes an overwhelming proliferation of servers and applications, making it even more critical for IT to accurately discover and track all their IT assets under management. Regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley are putting more pressure on IT to accurately discover, track and report on what systems they own, who has access to them, and the change history around those systems and software.

Opsware Asset Tracking Edition continues to be one of the leading asset discovery and tracking products on the market, with approximately 200 deployed customers across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The determination of when Opsware Tracking Edition 5.5 will be made available, if ever, remains at the sole discretion of Opsware Inc.
