Verizon is spearheading the Software Defined Perimeter Hackathon, including the protection of CORASCloud™ applications.

McLean, VA (PRWEB)February 29, 2016 - CorasCloud, a global leader in applications and platforms that reduce the cost and complexity of business applications, today announced it is participating with its partner Verizon in the Fourth Annual Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Hackathon. CorasCloud applications will be among the applications in the Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) that Verizon is spearheading for the Hackathon. The Hackathon, which starts today, is part of the 2016 RSA Conference being held in San Francisco, CA, today through March 4.

The Hackathon invites participants from all over the world to hack a cloud-based mission critical application. Verizon will lend its infrastructure and expertise to enable the SDP Hackathon to reflect the actual architecture used to serve government and business clients. CorasCloud will be a part of that architecture. Verizon will also monitor the public cloud infrastructure to see how well the SDP is able to provide 100 percent uptime by combining the resources of multiple public clouds.

“Verizon is a long-time customer and partner of CorasCloud and, once again, we are able to work with them on an important industry-wide initiative,” said Jim Benson, COO of CorasCloud. “Having our CorasNow application development platform running in their network during the Hackathon is just another way for us to contribute to efforts to better secure enterprise networks and all the apps that run behind them.”

Earlier this month, CorasCloud partnered with Verizon on another project to evaluate the delivery of critical medical supplies using unmanned electric helicopters. For the project, Verizon leveraged CorasNow to build a comprehensive unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mission management environment.

CorasNow is CorasCloud’s cloud-based application development platform. It allows business users to design, build, and deploy applications without code by leveraging visual design tools. It reduces application development time by more than 75% when compared to traditional application development models.

The top prize for the first hacker to either access of disrupt the server is $10,000. Hackers from all over the world participated in previous CSA SDP hackathons. Notable entrants have signed on from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Hungary, Korea, Romania, Russia, the UK, and the US. To date, no one has been able to circumvent even the first of the five SDP security controls layers.
