North American Developers Sticking With PayPal New Evans Data Survey Shows

SANTA CRUZ, CA. May 14, 2015, - More than two-thirds of North American software developers who work with merchant accounts plan to use PayPal APIs as payment solutions, topping competitors like Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay.  PayPal is also the payment solution that is currently being used by more software developers in North America than any other, according to Evans Data’s latest survey of North American developers, conducted last month.

Forty-two percent of the general software developers surveyed work with merchant accounts, either accounts of their own or accounts belonging to their clients.  Of those, 68.4% said they plan to adopt PayPal APIs, while 56.8% planned to work with VISA, 50.5% were planning to use Mastercard payment APIs, and 43.2% planned to work with Google Wallet APIs.  Apple Pay, Google Wallet and Samsung’s LoopPay were all selected by less than 35%.  Developers expected to work with three different solutions on average.
