OpenStack Announces First Superuser Awards Recognizing Team Accomplishments In 2014

04:02:48 - 28 August 2014

Call for Submissions Closes September 19th, Winners to Be Announced at Upcoming Paris Summit

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OpenStack, the open source software for building clouds, today announced the Superuser Awards, recognizing one outstanding team using OpenStack to improve their business while contributing meaningfully to the OpenStack community. Any company or individual may nominate a team for consideration, including their own. The call for submissions is now open.

The Superuser Awards follow the launch of the Superuser, a publication targeted at OpenStack users with the purpose of facilitating knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving among individuals and organizations running OpenStack clouds of all sizes and across all industries. The OpenStack Foundation introduced the concept of Superusers at the OpenStack Summit in May to celebrate the individuals who are change agents who are transforming the way they do business from the ground up. The Superuser Awards are the next step that the OpenStack Foundation is taking to support and celebrate the work of OpenStack end-users and operators.

“We make a point of talking to OpenStack users every week, and we are continually impressed with teams who have driven real change and business value in their organizations using OpenStack. We’d like to recognize these individuals, and share their experiences to inspire and share best practices among our community and the broader industry,” said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation.

Finalists will be determined by the unique nature of use case(s), as well as integrations and applications of OpenStack within a given team. Additional selection criteria includes:

  • Demonstration of organizational transformation
  • Illustration of new product, time to market or money saved with deployment
  • Growth of deployment, in terms of size and number of users
  • Community impact in terms of contributions, feedback, knowledge sharing, etc.

The call for award submissions will close at 11:59 p.m. CT on September 19th, 2014. Judging will begin immediately, and finalists will be asked to participate in a supplementary interview with an OpenStack representative within one week. Winners will be formally recognized onstage at the OpenStack Paris Summit, taking place from November 3 - 7, 2014.
