Alvarion® Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALVR), a provider of optimized wireless broadband solutions addressing the connectivity, coverage and capacity challenges of public and private networks, today announced the successful deployment of the BreezeULTRA solution in a Point-to-Point configuration on the GWS Stadtwerke Hameln GmbH network in Hameln, Germany. BreezeULTRA is a high performance wireless solution with superior capacity and packet processing for voice, video and data.

GWS is a long standing Alvarion customer with an established network of wireline and wireless broadband services in Hameln, Germany. With customer demand for increasing data, GWS was motivated to seek more capacity and bandwidth. This was achieved, through Alvarion’s system integrator ITM in Germany who has worked with GWS since their first installation in 2006. GWS selected the BreezeULTRA solution to upgrade an existing Point-to-Point link and deliver higher capacity wireless solutions to end customers.

“With a fully installed base and more customers joining the network every day, we needed a solution that would capitalize on our existing infrastructure without having to seek additional spectrum,” states Mr. Koehler, Project manager and department head of telecommunications at GWS Stadtwerke Hameln. “BreezeULTRA allowed us to achieve great spectral efficiency, doubling our capacity to customers with minimal efforts.”

The inherent flexibility of the BreezeULTRA enabled a fast and smooth integration into the current network infrastructure delivering immediate results. Capacity was successfully increased from the original output of 75 Mbps over a 40 MHz channel to as high as 120 Mbps over a 20 MHz channel at a distance of 1.5 Km. Bandwidth consumption decreased from 40 MHz to 20 MHz, allowing GWS to offer more services more efficiently over the same link.

“This first BreezeULTRA installation demonstrates our vision of a high performance solution that fits our customers’ needs for more capacity,” states Tal Meirzon, COO at Alvarion. “As our multi-technology portfolio expands, our customers will be able to upgrade their networks and effectively meet growing end user requirements.”

One of the key advantages of the BreezeULTRA is in the careful attention paid to engineering a simple and easy-to-use solution. BreezeULTRA is designed to simplify logistics and operations with the all-inclusive package, broad spectrum coverage, well designed installation and mounting kit and the integrated web and quick installation wizard. Installers can easily and rapidly install and commission a BreezeULTRA unit using the same base station pole and cabling, and within 5 minutes have the BreezeULTRA up and running, helping to reduce OPEX and CAPEX costs.

The first solution in the BreezeULTRA family to be introduced is the BreezeULTRA P6000 Point-to-Point solution, providing high-quality data, voice and video for private networks. Additional Point-to-Multipoint and Hybrid Backhaul-to-Multipoint versions will be available as part of the BreezeULTRA family roadmap.
