Sedo Welcomes Applications For Premium .Co Auction

02:23:01 - 08 November 2011

Online domain marketplace Sedo today announced a no reserve auction for premium .co domain names that will take place from December 8th-15th, 2011. The application process for the auction opens on November 7th at 12pm EST, and will run until December 7th at 12pm EST.

The .co domain extension, which was launched in July 2010, gives businesses and investors the opportunity to purchase viable alternatives to premium generic .com names, and to build greater brand awareness through expanding their portfolio of domains. Already in use by a large number of businesses, short, memorable, and generic .co domain names can be a relevant alternative destination for web-savvy consumers—for example, Twitter’s t.co or Overstock’s o.co—as well as a means to create a stronger brand—such as The Madison Group’s choice to shorten their online identity to tmg.co.

“As a means to increase online traffic and brand awareness online, .co. is a premium alternative to .com domains,” said Sedo’s CEO, Tim Schumacher. “The strength of .co domains since their introduction over a year ago proves that they are an attractive prospect to domain end users building a portfolio, as well as to business owners looking to expand their marketing outreach.”

Sedo encourages domain owners with premium, generic .co names to apply to enter their domains into the no reserve auction starting on December 8th, 2011. To apply, please contact your Account Manager, or go to the Domain Management Tool in your Sedo account, then select “Promote Domains” followed by the “.co auction” option.
