Roaring Penguin Announces Availability of SNMP monitoring

02:24:40 - 06 August 2008

Simple Network Management Protocol Available Immediately in All CanIt Anti-Spam Solutions

6 August 2008 – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – Roaring Penguin Software Inc. announces the integration of its CanIt-PRO and CanIt-Domain-PRO appliance with all standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) monitoring systems. Roaring Penguin now offers SNMP agents and Management Information Bases (MIBs) to monitor the performance and availability of its CanIt products.

"With our SNMP tools, system administrators can use industry-standard protocols to monitor their CanIt installations. They can monitor message volume, scan times, system load, mail queue sizes and failover status from their favourite enterprise monitoring console," said David Skoll, CTO of Roaring Penguin Software.

In addition to SNMP agents, Roaring Penguin includes configuration helpers for the popular open-source Nagios monitoring tool. "Nagios has long been a favorite of UNIX system administrators," said Skoll, "so it was logical for us to help out with Nagios configuration. But whether you're using Nagios or commercial monitoring tools, standards-based SNMP will ensure that CanIt can be integrated seamlessly into your monitoring system."

Not only do the SNMP tools allow enterprises to monitor their CanIt systems, but they also allow resellers to monitor many CanIt installations on behalf of customers. This allows resellers to offer valuable monitoring services to customers who may lack the infrastructure or skills to monitor their appliances, thereby offering customers peace of mind and resellers an additional revenue stream.
