Penguin Computing to Offer Splunk-Powered Enhanced Support Offerings and Resell Splunk to Broaden Customer Application Capabilities

08:48:50 - 21 April 2008

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 21, 2008 -- Penguin Computing, a leading provider of Linux solutions, and Splunk, the IT Search company have entered an agreement allowing Penguin Computing to use Splunk in their enhanced support offerings, and to resell Splunk in North America.

"By using Splunk for remote monitoring and diagnostics, we will be able to offer a superior and differentiated level of support," said David Ingersoll, vice president software and service sales at Penguin Computing. "In addition, the opportunity to provide Splunk to our customers will allow us to continue adding differentiated value which is a key objective for the company."

Penguin Computing's enhanced support offering will use Splunk to monitor and report on key system variables including machine data on fan speed, temperature, RAM and hard disk drives. If a problem should occur, Penguin Computing support can remotely diagnose the issue, reducing the time between problem identification and resolution, and providing greater infrastructure availability. Also if Penguin Computing customers want to use Splunk for other application areas like security, compliance or business intelligence, they can get higher data indexing levels through Penguin Computing.

"IT infrastructures have increasingly complex and dynamic dependences, so finding and fixing problems can take too long and cost too much," said Pervaiz Choudhry, director of business development at Splunk. "Our partnership with Penguin helps improve their service levels so their customers can recover faster, experience less downtime, and improve service levels. And as Penguin's customers use Splunk, they will find they can index their data once and use it many ways for security monitoring, compliance - even business intelligence."
