Equivio Near-Duplicate Benchmark Processes One Million Files In Six Hours

07:12:58 - 05 February 2008

Release of performance version 2.3.5 speeds and simplifies operations, easing the way for vendors to standardize the Equivio-based near-duplicate and email threads serviceKENSINGTON, MD, FEBRUARY 5, 2008– Equivio, a provider of software for near-duplicates and email threads, today announced benchmark results on performance version 2.3.5. Following Beta testing, the Generally Available (GA) version of Equivio 2.3.5 was released on January 31. As demonstrated in the benchmark, version 2.3.5 delivers a level of performance and operational ease that allows e-discovery and data retention providers to roll out near-duplicates and email threads as a standard service, bundled as an integral element within the provider’s default offering.

Key results from the benchmark include:

    * Case of 100,000 documents completed in just over 15 minutes
    * Case of 500,000 documents completed in less than 2 hours
    * Case of 1,000,000 documents completed in less than 6 hours
    * Case of over 6,000,000 documents completed in less than 2 days

Amir Milo, CEO of Equivio, noted, “We have seen the market transitioning near-duping and email threads from a premium service, used mainly by technologically savvy customers, to a standard bundled service, applied universally in all cases. The benchmark results show that bundling is now very doable.”

The benchmark results show a 3x improvement in processing throughput in Equivio version 2.3.5, relative to prior versions. The new version also contains important operational enhancements, including automated recovery, DLL version of console integration, and seamless input of email-attachment relationships from the hosting system.

These enhancements translate into mission-critical savings in time-sensitive business environments. In e-discovery, for example, the majority of cases include up to 1 million cases. Equivio’s new throughput levels, combined with the operational improvements, mean that most cases can be processed unsupervised in just a few hours.

Milo continued, “We have been focused on delivering performance, operational and business enhancements that can ease the bundling transition for our partners and customers, allowing them to standardize near-duplicates and email threads within their e-discovery strategy. We are also offering pricing incentives for strategic partners as they embrace the bundled service vision.”

The benchmark was run on standard PC’s, and was designed to analyze the impact of key performance parameters including: threshold level of near-duplicate resemblance, databases, email thread processing, distributed configuration, number of threads, and use of local or remote data. Full details on the benchmark results are available in an Equivio white paper which can be downloaded from the resource center at www.equivio.com.
