Business Continuity Webcast, White Paper Available from Peak 10

04:44:10 - 16 May 2007

May 17 Live Event to Cover Industry Trends, Strategy to Secure Business Operations

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Peak 10, the largest independent data center operator and managed services provider, is hosting a live business continuity webcast May 17.  The webcast will highlight strategies and practical steps to help companies secure business operations in a way that minimizes service interruptions and allows them to recovery quickly should one occur. Peak 10 has also released a companion white paper to acquaint IT strategists with new methodologies of achieving real-time business continuity and disaster recovery. Both are accessible online at www.peak10.com.

The webcast “Business Continuity: Servicing Your Customers in the Face of Disaster” will be hosted by Monty Blight, Peak 10 vice president, Managed Services.  Blight will educate participants with some common terminology and industry trends before walking them through the practical steps to build and maintain a plan.  The session will not be theoretical only but will be filled with real solutions and business trends utilized by successful companies worldwide.

“The cost to develop and maintain an effective business continuity strategy has come down significantly.  At the same time, more companies rely on technology for their most critical business operations.  Firms that used to think of BCDR as a big company luxury have to change their way of thinking.  The stakes are too high,” Blight said, adding, “with the availability of reasonable solutions, the return on protecting your business is impossible to ignore.”

The technical companion piece to the webcast is the white paper, “Best Practices in Business Continuity for Internet-based Systems.” The publication focuses on technical aspects of reliability, synchronization, fallover, recovery and testing, all elements instrumental in keeping IT operations fully functional in the event of a service interruption due to man-made or natural disasters.

Both the webcast and white paper release come in advance of the June 1 start to the hurricane season. Recent reports forecast an exceptionally active season, with 17 tropical storms expected. Nine of these are forecasted to strengthen into hurricanes with winds of at least 74 miles per hour, with four of these expected to become more destructive and intense. The average number of storms per hurricane season is ten, with six reaching hurricane strength.
