Radiant Data Launches PeerFS™ 4.0

07:40:25 - 04 April 2007

Radiant Data Corporation, a leader in continuous availability solutions for Linux, today announced availability of PeerFS™ 4.0 offering support for multiple 64-bit environments including Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, SUSE Enterprise Linux 10, Ubuntu 6.10 and Fedora Core 6. Trial versions of PeerFS 4.0 are available for immediate download at www.radiantdata.com.

Available since 2003, PeerFS is a replicating file system that delivers seamless, consistent access to data. Data on any PeerFS node is always visible and useable by local applications. PeerFS enables simultaneous transactions on multiple servers in multiple locations with separate but identical data stores that are continuously synchronized.

In addition to adding support for 64-bit platforms, file system performance has been improved by 40 percent, achieving comparability with commonly used file systems that don’t provide the added benefit of real-time, continuous data replication. Always a feature of PeerFS, NFS interoperability has been enhanced to be both seamless and foolproof.

“Our customers have been steadily migrating to 64-bit environments and have wanted to bring PeerFS along with them,” said Robert Peverley, Vice President and General Manager. “We wanted to deliver on this need, of course, but also to deliver a more robust, no compromise solution in the process – for both 64-bit and 32-bit environments. Continuous data availability is what PeerFS has always been about. Now PeerFS users will achieve the automated replication benefits they require without compromising file system performance.”

“We are a web-hosting company with a reputation for providing robust services to demanding clients,” said Bryan Rodriquez, CEO of Seattle-based polarPhase.com. “PeerFS has delivered the ultra-high availability and data integrity we need with a bare minimum of administrative overhead. Moreover, Radiant Data has continuously improved the product to meet our stringent requirements. With this new release we expect to be expanding our use of PeerFS from half of our web servers to virtually all of them.”

Pricing for PeerFS 4.0 ranges from $495 for a two-node “local” system to $1,995 per node for the Enterprise WAN edition.
