Righteous Software Releases Revolutionary Linux-based Backup Server for Web Hosts

Righteous Software has released an all-Linux version of its Righteous Backup Server offering.

HOUSTON, Texas — Righteous Software, an innovative software developer specializing in disk-based backup solutions for Web hosts and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), announced today it has released an all-Linux version of its Righteous Backup Server offering, primarily a response to overwhelming demand from industry leaders.

The new product, which offers nearly continuous backups for Linux servers—a technology that remains unmatched in the industry—runs on a standalone server and can provide disk-based backup services for up to three hundred Linux servers simultaneously. The solution also includes open file backups, point-in-time snapshots, and requires no 3rd party applications.

“For most customers, we have been able to significantly reduce the costs of their backup systems—often reducing the price to under $100 per server, compared to the up to $2,000 per server cost of most commercial backup solutions on the market today,” said David Wartell, Righteous Software founder and CEO. “In addition to the financial savings, our software also delivers a full range of new features that our competitors simply can’t match.”

The product’s most prominent feature, nearly continuous backups, minimizes the chance of data loss should a server failure occur, because the backup server would contain a very recent copy of the data. Additionally, Righteous Backup Server offers 10x data compression, allowing administrators to store 10 complete disk images in less space than it takes to store one copy of the original data

“We have developed a backup server solution that will truly revolutionize the way the Web hosting industry stores its data,” said Wartell. “On every level, we have shattered the paradigm for how to backup data in a Web hosting environment. It’s the only solution on the market packed with such important, practical and innovative features.”

Righteous Backup Server for Linux is also the only product offering integration with leading hosting control panels, such as cPanel, Ensim and Plesk.

“With Righteous Backup Server, the hosting industry will finally be able to deliver the scalable, low-cost data redundancy that is absolutely imperative in today’s mission-critical Web-empowered business culture,” said Wartell. “For hosts, it’s about accountability, and for customers, it’s about peace of mind.”

The company’s sister product also offers disk-based backups for Linux hosts, but stores them on a Windows-based server. The solution was recently deployed at EV1Servers, a large scale provider of dedicated Web hosting products and services.
