Web Hosting Provider Hostway Offers Discount on .Info Domains

Web hosting provider Hostway has reduced the prices of first year new registration of .info domain names. Now registering a .info domain name costs £1.49 for 1 year. After the first year the annual cost of renewal returns to the company's standard price of £8.95 per year.

According to Neil Barton, Director of Hostway UK commented, the .info domain is undervalued. "There is a clear and universally recognised association between it, and the search for information about any given topic, service, or organisation on the web, so it makes complete sense to have one as part of your domain portfolio., said Mr. Barton.

.Info is a top-level domain intended to be used for informative and media websites. Its use however is not restricted. It was a part of ICANN's highly publicized announcement in late 2000 of a phased release of seven new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs). There arecurrently about 3 million registered .info domains. 1.6 million of them lead to active web sites.
