Verio Shared Hosting Platform for Windows Provides Industry's First MultiSite Capabilities Launched in Japan Through NTT Communications' OCN Hosting Service

06:19:09 - 12 April 2006

Offering Enables Developers to Deliver Verio's MultiSite Features to Users While Creating Sites Using ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server

Verio Inc., a US-based subsidiary of NTT Communications Group and a leading provider of hosting and Internet services for small to midsized companies and partners, today announced that NTT Communications has introduced its new Open Computer Network (OCN) Hosting Service for Windows, a Microsoft Windows-based shared hosting suite offered for the first time to small and medium sized enterprises in Japan. Based on Verio's award-winning Shared Hosting Platform for Windows, the suite encompasses products and services essential for small businesses and developers to establish and manage a presence on the Internet, including a variety of Windows-based hosting plans that meet the diverse needs of small businesses in Japan.

The OCN Hosting Service also offers Verio's MultiSite technology that enables customers to host multiple domain-based Web sites within one shared hosting plan. OCN Hosting Service customers can host up to 25 sites with unique URLs, all under one account to save costs.

By using Verio's Windows-based hosting platform, NTT Communications is helping customers capitalize on new technology to free them from the costs and hassles of in-house implementations, and allow these customers to concentrate on their businesses. The service also enables Web developers to create more dynamic and complex Web sites through the use of ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

Particularly important to Windows developers, Verio's Hosting platform for Windows provides a foundation for the development of Microsoft .NET Framework-based Web sites and Web applications, effectively enabling companies to deliver better information to customers sooner. Developing applications using the .NET Framework eases the development process. Developers can make optimal use of existing Windows Server investments on the operating system or easily deliver applications as Web services. The result is the ability to develop applications, as well as sophisticated Web sites with modern functionality, three to four times faster than on alternate platforms, subsequently lowering development costs and raising the value of the resulting Web site to developers' customers.

"The extension of the Open Computer Network service to the Japanese market speaks volumes to the flexibility and scalability of the Windows platform, as well as to the success achieved with the service in North America," said Pascal Martin, general manager of Worldwide Hosting at Microsoft Corp. "By using Windows as the hosting platform, NTT Communications' customers can take advantage of the tens of thousands of developers creating applications and services based on the .NET Framework."

"This is the first time NTT Communications has offered a shared Web hosting service based on Windows to meet the needs of .NET Web developers in small and medium sized enterprises," said Masaaki Sano, Director, Broadband IP Services Business Division at NTT Communications. "Our small and midsized business customers can now experience the same level of stable, reliable, and innovative services as Verio's high quality shared hosting services for Windows at a reasonable price."
