The upgrade of Verio’s existing authoritative DNS servers with Nominum’s commercial grade ANS servers has increased capacity threefold, reduced downtime significantly, and ultimately allows Verio to better meet service levels agreements to its growing subscriber base.

Nominum ANS is the most scalable authoritative name server available. An authoritative name server provides definitive DNS information for a specific set of Internet name spaces (zones). In contrast, a caching name server retrieves information from authoritative servers and caches it locally for optimal performance.
