WITI To Host Women's Leadership Summit at 2006 Conference

10:17:46 - 24 January 2006

Additional Workshops to Focus on Technology, Biosciences, Business and Professional Development

SAN DIEGO, CA - January 23, 2006 - WITI (Women in Technology International), the nation's leading professional organization for tech-savvy women, announced today that it is hosting a Women's Leadership Summit on February 13. The summit will be part of WITI's annual conference, "Taking the Lead...In the Digital Age: San Diego," being held at the Hilton Torrey Pines Hotel in La Jolla, CA on February 13-14, 2006.

Margaret Heffernan, president and chief operating officer of iCAST and author of "The Naked Truth," will be the lead speaker at the Women's Leadership Summit. Her workshop, "The Courage of Our Convictions: Appreciating the Value of Female Leadership," will feature mentoring and global leadership elements that tie in with the framework of the summit.

"It's immensely important to bring women together where they can discuss what works and what doesn't. Women in technology can find themselves quite isolated, or under enormous pressure to assimilate. It is when they come together that they find their strengths, " says Heffernan. "There really isn't anything women can't do - except, sometimes, believe that they can."

Additional conference keynote speakers include Lynn Sontag, CEO of MENTTIUM Corporation. Sontag will teach a workshop on corporate mentoring titled "Navigating the Career Highway - Bring a Passenger."

"MENTTIUM understands the powerful impact mentoring has both at work and in life," says Sontag. "Mentors often have the experience and wisdom to help their mentees grow personally and professionally. With over 50,000 mentoring participants and 15 years of service in this unique field, MENTTIUM will offer insight on how to find help in a role model who cares about helping you achieve success. Our workshop will give session attendees the keys to this potent career-building tool."

This year's conference covers a wide array of sessions covering biosciences, career and professional development, general business and technology. These four tracks will provide attendees various opportunities to gain new personal and business knowledge as well as provide a forum to exchange ideas and opportunities.
